Annie... Sex and Drugs and Rock n'Roll

While I had been living in Boston, my brother had been dating a woman from New York City. They were pretty serious, and he went down there on most weekends to spend time with her. She lived with a roommate, and her roommate was a serious booking agent for a major New York Agency. "Annie" was handling some very big rock acts, and at the time, was too busy to have time for a serious personal life... and I think my brother and his lady thought they'd be doing us both a favor if they "fixed us up"... since we were both single. When I got back to Conn. from Boston, I was invited to go to New York for a weekend by my brother. We went to a concert that was featuring one of the bands Annie booked, and afterwards, went back to the apartment the ladies shared on Roosevelt Island. Although we had only just met, it was obvious that there was some chemistry between us, and after a few hours of getting high, Annie and I ended up spending the night together. I liked her. She was smart, pretty, uninhibited, and unattached...and lived far enough away from Conn., and was so busy with her career, that a serious relationship wasn't practical... but a friendly, casual relationship worked for both of us. We started to see each other about twice a month in the beginning, and started to get close, as friends, primarily, but as friends who were also comfortable with a sexual relationship. I thought she had a very exciting life, and I was also aware that she dated and spent time with other well-known musicians in New York, or at least that was what she told me. I was surprised that she was even interested in me, after all, I wasn't famous or successful, but we did have a lot of fun when we were together.... and at first, I didn't notice that Annie was coming to Connecticut more frequently, because she often was up there to check on the bands she was booking at the club. ..and so it seemed to me that she had very legitimate reasons for being in Conn. on business...and so it also seemed perfectly logical to have her stay with me when she was "in the neighborhood". We liked to "party"...and it really was..."sex and drugs and rock  n' roll"...
